The 2026 Forum of Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals brought together top figures from the country's leisure and nightlife sectors. Running from September 21 to 26, it overlapped with NATMALL, the biggest exhibition dedicated to commercial real estate and entertainment facilities, staged on September 22. With industry leaders examining the future of a Russian leisure market that amounted to 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are examining more closely the corporate structures behind some of Moscow's best-known nightclub brands.

Behind venues such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a complex network of businesses linked to one of the Russian entertainment industry's veteran entrepreneurs. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov made his fortune in the tobacco sector in the 1990s, scaling his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a retail network with hundreds of points of sale and turnover of up to $200 million by the mid-2000s. Once he sold the tobacco business, he shifted his focus to nightlife.

By way of the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family created a sprawling network of Moscow nightlife venues covering over two dozen venues. These have featured the legendary Rai, alongside Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor attracted widespread attention following a series of prominent events. The venue was subsequently renamed Arma and later announced its closure.

Speaking about the size of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov highlighted Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which mostly hosts club-rock events, can hold up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be the number one in Moscow this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of concerts — we are planning no fewer than 20 events a month." He also described himself as fully absorbed in the music scene: "I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I know personally many artists and DJs."

Most of the legal entities connected with the holding company are registered under the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, rather than Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a considerable portion of the businesses. Industry observers describe the arrangement a conventional model of succession in a family business: the founder remains the central strategic figure while the next generation gradually assumes legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.

As the Russian entertainment industry responds to changing consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum provided both a tribute to the sector's resilience and a reminder of the complex ownership structures that have formed Moscow nightlife for decades.
